Have been told to apply for Income support. 1 adult and 3 children – what is the “rate” am new to DHSS system?

Worked all my life and reduced to this. My daughter thinks there must be another way as she is at college and says she will now have to attend a weekly meeting if we go on benefit. Unfortunatley current circumstances have forced this situation and I feel terrible going onto beneifit as it is. She says I'm letting the family down if I go onto benefit - I can't win - but we have to eat. It will be as temporary as it can be as I intend to apply for every job going. My daughter also works P/T after college and at w/e - I've brought her up to feel work is vital and not be a scrounger - and here I am now - a scrounger !! I feel like a hypocite

How much will we get for 1 adult and 3 children please. The thought of sitting in these open plan offices baring my sole is too much to bear

do you get child tax credit on top of income support?

A friend has had to go on income support until she finds a job ,she has one daughter at school ,she used to work and recieve tax credits now she has moved to a new town and is just on income support for now but still gets child tax credit on top. Either things have changed a lot or someone is getting it wrong ,I thought you just got income support and that was it even though I wonder how she is supposed to live off that.She will get housing benefit when she is housed.
she has told them time after time they are still paying the child tax credit ,not her tax credit that has stopped and the income support they still keep paying it into her bank

Does Child Benefit count as income when being assessed on your ability to pay/not pay loan installments?

I have been told that Child Benefit cannot be counted as income when a bank that you have a loan with (which you cant afford to keep up the repayments on) are working out your income and expenditure.

Is it true they aren't allowed to count Child Benefit as income or have i got that wrong?

I called my bank to say i cant keep up with the repayments on a loan (split from my partner, single mum, 2 kids, no job [at present] ) and they ran through my meager income made up of tax credits, child benefit and child maintenance & income support and said "well, by the looks of this you CAN make the repayments"

i CANT at all so i don't know what she was on about, but if i can prove that they are not allowed to use Child Benefit when counting whether i can afford to pay the loan then i can call them back again and ask then to re-asses my income and expenditure so that i MIGHT actually be able to get some help off them - they do keep offering to help me but whenever i call the won't do anything (HSBC)

income support/child tax credits UK?

Hi,

Im due for a back-to-work interview for my income support, but im going away for 4 weeks when Im supposed to have the interview. I have desperately tried to bring it forward, but apparently they cant! I know if i miss the interview my income support will be stopped, but will my child tax credits and child benefit be stopped also? and how long does it take for this to happen.

Can I still claim income support if on a low benefit?

Can anyone help, I receive DLA but income support has ceased. The goverment says you need 200 pounds + to live on. We were receiving 223 p.w as i am disabled and my husband was caring for me, carers has ceased even though I have appealed on medical grounds. Our income has now gone down to 100.95 pw as hubby has to claim JSA. I have been refused ESA as not enough stamp paid as hubby was having his paid. Surely I should be claiming for something as there is a massive difference, 400 pounds a month is insane. I think income support is no longer an option now and I am still waiting for child tax credit form to arrive in post (now 2wks) and then got to apply and wait. Any suggestions, i think it is terrible that as a disabled person who has already been written off once as got to provide medicals every 3 months and then be told you dont qualify anyway.If you are disabled you are disabled but shouldnt be refused benefis when you have previously been claiming them just because the system has changed. We are now in deep poverty. Any suggestions ? There must be others experiencing the same.

Benefits query? Income support vs child benefits?

In the UK once a child becomes 16 years old do you know how much in benefits would a non-working single mother receive in benefits if that child stayed in the family (council) home.

Also if the child was to go to college would the amount received differ?

What was the benefit workers received on low income before working/child tax credits?

I just cannot think what it was called?
No there was another name for it, you would receive it and could work up to 30 hours a week,
not income support
Family credit was what I was thinking of cheers xxx

is csa, child benefit and tax credits classed as income?

my daughter wants to apply for a student loan for university and its asking for details of income. i only work part time so doi just put down that amount and not the beneifts i get? what evidence do they need?
i dnt have a p60 or a wage slip as its cash in hand so i dnt have evidence
