what happens to housing benefit when you stop getting child tax credits?

im self employed single parent and and have one child. im in film and fashion and my income fluctuates. soon my teen will stop college and my child tax credits and child benefit will stop. at the moment i get some housing benefit ...i think this will be lowered when he stops college? If he becomes self employed he will get working tax credits and my question is...will he get a token of housing benefit to contribute to the rent here if there are weeks of no profit from the self employed business?

Are people making it an occupation to have more and more children to get tax credits etc?

It seems to me that Labour are encouraging people to produce more children by giving them tax credits and higher child benefits to the detriment of the single tax payer. Do we really want to keep other people's offspring, if they can't afford them they shouldn't have them in my opinion.

Tax credits and their payment system?

I have renewed my claim before the cut off point in July but now one of my children have reached 16 and i informed them that he was going to sixth form in May ,but today have now been payed for one child today instead of the two. The tax credit office has told me that the computer will recalculate my award and i should get my missing payment soon either in a lump sum or double next week . I really do rely on that money and i would like to know if anybody else has found this arise to them this week . And also i am not on any benefits i live purely of my partners wages .
Been on the phone again this morning and my payment schedule is the same again for next week and i am out of pocket again .They cant tell me when the system will recalculate the award and it could be up to 4 weeks . I am wondering if anybody who works for tax credits know what they are talking about .
But they were informed of the change in May so why does the award only run until Sept ?

Child tax credits?

My wife and I are in the process of applying for child tax credits, but to be honest I don't have the faintest idea about them. We already recieve child benefit which goes straight into our joint account. I earn a good wage so do you think it would affect the claim in any way? my wife and I just want to make sure we're recieving the right amount of money for our daughter we're not scroungers before anybody has a go.

Thank you for your help.

Carers Allowance and Child Tax Credits?

I was told by the Benefit Enquiry Line that my Child Tax Credit would NOT be affected if I applied for Carers Allowance. My partner works full time and we have no other type of benefit at all. However, when checking the DirectGov website, it states the following:-

If you qualify for Carer's Allowance you may be able to get extra money for your husband, wife, civil partner or another adult who lives with you and cares for a child or children you get Child Benefit for.

If you receive Child Tax Credit, any Carer's Allowance received will be taken into account as income.

Can anyone clarify please?
My partner earns too much for us to be entitled to any other benefits, so CTC not only source of income. We have his salary, the CTC, and no other benefits of any kind.

Now that Cameron wants to do a deal with Clegg, what do you think it will mean for people receiving tax credits?

in particular child tax credit. my husband is receiving DLA and Incapacity Benefit and I receive Child Tax Credit and Child benefit and I also receive an allowance as his carer. Obviously as a household we're receiving less than £10,000 pa. How will Cameron/Clegg's 'possible' Tax Credit change effect us?
