Friends partner died and child benefits stopped?
My friends partner died a few weeks ago, they had a 2 year old son together and they stopped her child benefit to re calculate what she was entitled to. She works hard (she couldn't afford the time to grieve) but its not enough to raise her little boy on, the poor girl is really struggling and when she phones the benefits agency they tell her its still being processed! Surely this isn't right! She has enough on her plate without this, Christmas is coming up and she can barely afford to buy the child clothes never mind anything else. What do you think?
Well it has. I dont understand it either.

child benefit only applies the amount of children a person is responible for, it’s nothing to do with the partner. regardless of whether she has adults living with her or not should not affect her child benefit at all.

Bureaucracy suchks…ewwww! Call media attention to it….the time of year and holiday season coming on might make a difference. I lost a partner right at Christmastime as well, on my birthday, nonetheless…and I can tell you, that part alone is devastating enough…
Friends should be checking up on her with comfort foods and companionship! Be her guardian angels…..

the father should have had life insurance so his child would be taken care of if he died
