You could try AFDC/ aid for dependent children. They are the ones who pay child support when there is a dead-beat parent who has a court order to pay. Then the bad parent has to pay the state back or it comes out of their taxes. I don’t know how it would work with a jailed parent, but it’s worth a try.

It really depends on your income. If you are earning less that around $16,000 per dependent person in the house for most areas in Texas, you may qualify for HUD housing, WIC food, and Lonestar food. Direct cash assistance would be very unlikely, but might could be offered by the Department of Health if there is an immediate emergency.
