What happens to family allowance/child benefit when a child is taken into care by Social Services?
Do the parents still receive the money or is it then paid to Social Services?
parents wouldnt get it and i dont think social services do as it is a grant for parents

the chances are that if the child is taken to a foster family they will get the benefit as it is for the child so whoever has the child will get the money

The money would be halted until said child is placed in a foster home, then the foster parents would receive the benefits. I don’t know how it is where you live, but I know that in the U.S. people are becoming foster parents for that reason alone…a check. How these people get the children in the first place is beyond me, poor character judgment I suppose.
