assistance? Because on the application quide, they said that if you a Landed immigrate, you are not qualify to sponsor your spouse if you collect social assistance from the goverment. Can some one help me with some examples of social assistance benefit because, I am confused and don’t know what government assistance to use because I don’t want to be a victim since i intend to sponsor my husband. Any information will help . I just became a permanent resident of Canada one month ago. I have two children. How soon can i apply for the child tax benefit if incase it is not a social assistance

no

I have been separated for nearly 7 months. I am primary caretaker of our 2 yo but no one has any custody yet.

My STBX has been collecting child tax benefits and told me she paid her car off. However she has no car but I assume that I should have used that money as I take care of the child.

If she spent that money for her needs I wouldn’t be mad even though I’m more needy than she is, but I don’t like if she gave it to her family. We are talking about around $5000 as we didn’t get CTB for a while.

Employment: I haven’t been employed since she left I only focused on the child and she worked 3.5 mo.

Can anything be done so someone finds out where the money went cuz I’m 99% sure she gave it to her family?

Thanks

No, because you don’t have custody or any legal rights to the child. No single fathers do until warded them by the courts. She can take the child away from you at any time, than file retroactive child support on you.

YES-you can still claim the child tax credit if your child was under age 17 by the end of the year, if you provided at least 1/2 of their support during the year and if they lived with you for at least 6 months during the year. If your child met those qualifications-regardless if they spent several months in jail-then you can claim them on your return.

CHILD BENEFIT: think it’s £18 for your first and £11.90 (a week) for your second child.

I receive mine monthly so i’m not exactly sure of the figure.

CHILD TAX CREDIT: This depends on your circumstances so would be impossible to tell you accurately, call them (0845 300 3900).x

i just became father. a month back. Wondering how to get tax benefit on my child for this year? what is the best way to get tax benefit

Congratulations.

Tax benefit will depend on your personal situation. Are you married to the mom and living with her? If so, you can file a joint return and claim the baby.

If you are not married but the child does live with you, then you and the mom can decide which of you will claim the baby – only one of you can claim the baby. You can decide based on which would be the least taxes for you overall.

If the child doesn’t live with you but lives with the mom, you can’t claim him or her unless the mom agrees in writing – there’s a form for this, IRS form 8332.

Who receives the child tax credits and child benefits on their accounts, husband or the wife??

My husbands not working but he is receiving money on my account for job centre, but at the moment i get the child tax credits and the child benefit so that way i easily spend on my child how i like.

But he wants to change the accounts he wants to start receiving them in his account. What does everyone think?

You are technically primary carer ie mum, so the ctc are paid for the care clothes etc for the children, therefore you get it for kids. It is not your husbands money it is your children’s. So why change the way its paid Why does it matter to him what account its paid into? I’m stay at home mum ctc paid to me. THAT WONT CHANGE no matter what. who does the shopping in your house – you. So what will happen is every time you need clothes shoes for kids you have to go cap in hand to him. Don’t change the account.

Contact CRA, who pay the benefit. What, the kid doesn’t exist?
