Tax Credit, Can I Get A Crisis Loan ?

We have 4 kids and get £56 per week child benefit, We have changed bank accounts and I swapped Tax credits into the new bank over the phone and the next payment went into the new bank the following week. Child benefit are not so good. They sent out a form (took 2 weeks) Sent it back, over a week ago, phoned them and they said it takes upto 21 days to sort out, total 5 weeks without payment. Why does it take them all this time when tax credits did it over the phone instantly ? They now owe us £168 and we really need it for xmas, Is their any way to speed them up or is their a way I can get some form of loan from the social. I asked for a giro but they said it takes as long as changing bank to process. I think they are lazy. Help please, I dont want my kids dissapointed on xmas day.
Gemma B, Both me and my wife work you nasty sodd. Tax Credits is for WORKING FAMILIES you idiot.

I have just received my child tax renewal forms and i’ve hit a snag filling them in and need help?

The situation is i'm a single parent my daughter is 17 and still in full time education. i was in receipt of JSA until 20th Oct 07 when i started a 3 year degree course. The problem is I cant get through to student loans company to find out which part of my student finance ie loans and grants are taxable to enable me to claim again. Can anyone shed some light as I cannot get through to the CAB either and another problem has also arisen I've had to defer/suspend my studies for a year as i'm going through treatment for cervical cancer so I have now had to put in a claim for incapacity benefit. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated

Why should people without children subsidise those who breed like rabbits?

Many people have large families and the government throws money at them every time they produce another sprog. Some families get over £35,000 a year in benefits...paid for by ordinary tax payers. family allowance, or child benefit or whatever it's called now should only be given for the first two children. I'm sure the 'breed like rabbits' brigade would learn to read the instructions on a pack of condoms if they knew that they would have to pay for their own children and not expect others to. We have lost our 'married man's allowance' in order to give more to the prolific breeders. if people want more than 2 children, fine but why do we have to pay for them?
I'd like a brand new Ferrari, but as I can't afford one, I live without. The same should be true for children. There should be a box to tick on your tax-form asking whether you'd like your hard earned tax to go towards subsidising people who can't be bothered to use contraception...my answer would be a resounding NO!!
Coelho....you misunderstand me, I mean that this country gives money away for every child a family has...if a family has 15 children, they get 15x the money.
We have to pay for them...
Não é justo.

Incapacity benefit help pls pls pls?

My benefit has been stopped as I recently attended a medical and scored 6 points, u need 10 points to pass. Im going to appeal against this as Im in no fit state to work. suffer from severe depression and anexity. What do I say when I appeal and how does it all work? I have a 15 month old and I didnt tell them the whole truth as Im afraid they would take my son away and call me a bad parent, I do put things off that are important, avoid going out, and I always read too much into things this really messes my head up. I would rather be on my own and am very nervous. I put a front on as I always hide things away and bottle things up. I get help from my partners mam alot. I cry everyday and everyday feels the same. so basically I was thinking of my son, I made out things were better bcause I was afraid of losing him. what do I do? they are sending me a form GL24. Any help or advice pls? If they decline what can I do next? I wont be able to support myself and child. My partner has a job but
it pays pennies and once rent is paid and the rest we dont have any ££. This is gonna make me worse as Im gonna worry and get stressed even more. I have thought about suicide and also self harmed myself a few times. x
I would love to go to work! thanx 4 the commet u have upset me a lot. Ive had 5 deaths in 10 months (2 of my grans) a baby, partner lost job twice my 2nd couisn is 5 and has leukimia and has months to live. Oh and our prev lanlord kicked us out as she was a cow!! i

Regarding UK London tube strike. Why doesnt everyone form a union then can get final salary pensions back?

To those saying well people get made redundant and have lost their final salary pensions but you don’t see us going on strike.

WELL DUMBASS WHY YOU LOST THE PENSION AND COLLEGUES LOST THEIR JOBS.

If you all formed unions not only would you get job security and could force the return of your pensions from the fat cat bonuses. AND YOUR COLLEGUES GET THEIR JOBS BACK.

You could end the long hour’s culture so people have less stress, see children more, less youth crime. More employed so less unemployed. Less crime. A far better society where instead of competitive office politics people look after each other in communities with the return of sympathetic strike action to support others. Better wages collectively bargained and pay openness would lower debt and bring wages in line with house price rises.

Export unionisation to the third world, improve their pay, job security and conditions = less economic and illegal immigration. And fewer jobs going abroad so bosses could get away with Dickensian near slave labour conditions. With more job security criminals running sweatshops have less power too. As unions inspect their companies.

All benefit bar fat cats and sweat shop slave traffickers who love all the idiots fighting and complaining about strikers. Divide and conquer. Bosses should fear workers. It makes them better bosses at running things for everyone’s benefit.

To those saying sack the tube workers & employ new staff for less. Who does that benefit? Not the public as then other bosses think they can do that to loyal employees and less job security.

Or would you rather bosses being able to force your daughters to give sexual services to keep their jobs as that’s the other end of it.

what benefits can you claim if….?

you live with you partner, your work wont pay you SMP and not enough evidence to support your maternity pay form.
i know i can have child benefit as do everyone. but this still wont be enough, work SHOULD pay me SMP but they said no. i dont want all the stress do be on my partner when we move out.
i have worked over 26 weeks but i know they can pay me but they just wont. my partner works so i know i wont be able to claim income support.
i already had a discussion with the school i work for, but they still said no, i know that they are treating me wrongly as i was meant to finish Friday but i last worked 19th march. i confronted them about this and they basically told me "once the baby is born then you can start working again". but i have no evidence of this. with maternity pay, i accidentally chucked a few of my payslips out. i just cant believe i have worked my a$$ off since 16 and when i need the help, i get screwed over. they'd rather pay someone who hasn't worked a day in there life.

Can I still claim income support if on a low benefit?

Can anyone help, I receive DLA but income support has ceased. The goverment says you need 200 pounds + to live on. We were receiving 223 p.w as i am disabled and my husband was caring for me, carers has ceased even though I have appealed on medical grounds. Our income has now gone down to 100.95 pw as hubby has to claim JSA. I have been refused ESA as not enough stamp paid as hubby was having his paid. Surely I should be claiming for something as there is a massive difference, 400 pounds a month is insane. I think income support is no longer an option now and I am still waiting for child tax credit form to arrive in post (now 2wks) and then got to apply and wait. Any suggestions, i think it is terrible that as a disabled person who has already been written off once as got to provide medicals every 3 months and then be told you dont qualify anyway. If you are disabled you are disabled but shouldnt be refused benefis when you have previously been claiming them just because the system has changed. We are now in deep poverty. Any suggestions ? There must be others experiencing the same.
